TRAUMA DEBRIEFING AND COUNSELLING
Trauma de-briefing and counselling is a form of psychotherapy that helps an individual cope with life events that negatively affect functioning and emotional status. Trauma can be caused by the loss of a loved one or divorce, for example, and counselling assists clients in coping with and mourning their loss. An empathetic therapist is key in assisting a client to make sense of experienced trauma in a non-threatening therapeutic space.
MEDICO-LEGAL ASSESSMENTS
We offer evaluation for adults and children with injuries due to MVA’s, medical negligence and personal injuries. The services offered to address the following:
- Describe the claimant’s present cognitive, academic potential and emotional status.
- Determine whether the incident in which claimant was involved had a negative impact on these constructs.
PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT
We offer different types of assessments which are undertaken for different reasons which may include:
Application for a concession: concession or accommodation assessment is used to determine if a learner or student requires certain support or accommodations to help him/her achieve his/her potential and are usually done during a child’s high school education. Concession applications for Grade 12 examinations must be submitted during the child’s Grade 11 year. Furthermore, once learners go on to tertiary level education, continued concession support is available to them.
